Fucking smartphone screenshots.
All smartphones take screenshots.
All smartphones have cropping capabilities.
Stop posting this shit to the internet.
Thank you.
This also applies to that super cool neato posts on instagram, flickr and facebook. If your intent is to share a photo, just share the photo. No one gives a shit how much signal, notifiations, or battery life you have.
If your intent is to share the actual post, we still don't care about the time of day, signal, notifications or battery life.

Even better, if you are pulling the pic off the internet, it CAN be saved to the phone first. Thus no cropping and no shitty bar at the top/bottom.

But that would take knowing something about how your phone works...

YES! That is also true. Some sites/apps won't let you "save as" though.

When I see these in other forums, I usually reply with two images.
The image they intended to post
Their original screenshot without the image in it.
"Fixed it for you, here's your sidebars/screenshot back" comment.

I miss Dolphin's screen cut feature which allowed you to cut images directly from the page you were on without having to screenshot or save images then edit them later in Skitch or whatever. Huge timesaver. I wouldn't dare screenshot/save/edit now 'cause it takes like 5 minutes. One day that Dolphin feature stopped working so I deleted it promptly.

Sweet. Dolphin Screen Cut is back and I can capture any little piece of any screen. I captured the essence of this post right here.

You can trick some sites into letting you save by spawning the picture as its own tab (or on imgur, just changing the format from the options on the bottom of the page).
What I think is worse is when people take a picture of their phone screen because either they're somehow incapable of taking a screenshot or they really want you to know what phone they have.

You can trick some sites into letting you.....
Right.. There are many ways to do it. There are also some clever screenshot apps that will let you clip what you want and save it to your device.
The root of this evil are people who don't have a clue, or are too lazy to figure it out. They are ruining the internet for the rest of us.
Shit in = shit out.

I wish I could give you more than one Recommend!!! :D
Personally, I think the distinction of "ruining the Internet for the rest of us" goes to a good chunk of Reddit and 4Chan users. Have you ever been to /r/Cars or /r/Autos?
Those people are not car enthusiasts, most of them are just idiots that think that since they've played Gran Turismo/Forza and watch Top Gear that they know everything about cars and what cars are good/bad. Plot Twist: Just because it isn't popular, doesn't mean it's bad.

I think it's OK on the occasions where "what's going on on my phone" is relevant - so, for example, a series of texts. You're obviously capturing what happened on your phone, and I think that's fine. But yeah. If you're screencapping just for a picture, get the damn picture.
